A sandhill crane parts
from the ubiquitous gray
of the sky's sordid pastel

its cacophonous laud
augments a sinuous

panacea of rara avis
riven from the empyrean

tensive guttural keck
of deific strain
imponderable and lonely

vees of shivaree
southbound overhead

vanguard's descant upon
the current urgency
of the hoarfrost

the gleaned fields
skim-ice on the ponds
vertigo in stillness

timpanic decrescendos
of auld lang syne
glad hand the horizon.
